Most people reading this post will be ignorant of the blessings from God to nations that are His, and who obey His laws. They’ll also be ignorant of the curses that are handed down to those nations that turn away from Him. Nations turn away by ignoring God’s laws, as God made a covenant with His people, and our part of the deal was pretty straightforward: Obey my Laws, commands and statutes; don’t add to them nor subtract from them.
Here are the appropriate verses from Deuteronomy 28:
But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:
16Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field.17Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store.18Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.19Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out.The list above is just the Executive Summary, as there’s quite a long list of more specific outcomes of this curse that follow in Deuteronomy 28. I’m just going to highlight one item today, which ties in with the curse mentioned in the title of this post:
Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long: and there shall be no might in thine hand.
So what you may be thinking, none of this applies to me and my family? Well, people of Dumnonia and the rest of the Fractured Kingdom in England, Wales & Scotland, it most definitely applies to you right now, and I’ll now give you some examples.
Let’s start with the very sad and terrible case of little Charlie Gard, a very sick male child who died last year after a protracted legal battle, with his parents seeking to take him overseas for treatment, and the state denying them the freedom to do this.

I confess to being distraught at the time, these poor parents were unable to take the action they desired in order to fight for the survival of their baby son. I prayed daily for Charlie and his parents for months. At that time I was ignorant of the Deuteronomy verses mentioned above, as I hadn’t read them yet. Charlie died, but I was very relieved that he was baptised before he died, and I expect his parents were similarly relieved.
I realise now of course that Charlie’s loss was as a result of God’s curse on Britain. Men here are no longer responsible for life or death decisions concerning their children, the state will decide, and their decision will often result in the death of the child, after further treatment is denied.
Another very similar case arose earlier this year, with another male baby boy called Alfie Evans, who was not allowed to be removed from a state hospital by his parents, even though he was given Italian citizenship and offered treatment in Italy. Eventually the hospital turned off Alfie’s life support, as ordered by UK courts, but the little boy continued to breathe unaided, and survived. Sadly, he then died a few days later, supposedly of natural causes. The details of how precisely he died are less relevant than the fact that his parents had no say in what happened to their little boy.

So, let’s think of a word that describes the status of families, of parents, who have no say whatsoever in the fate of their children? It’s an easy word to find: slaves. We’re no longer free to live our lives as we wish, because we’e cursed by God for turning away from Him and disobeying His commands and laws, literally:
Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long: and there shall be no might in thine hand.
It’s a bitter pill to swallow, the fact that you’re now a slave in your own nation with no strength at all in your hands to even save the life of your baby son. How different from the times of Alfred The Great, who worked solely according to Jehovah’s laws, and actually sat and adjudicated cases himself as our King, but always using God’s laws as his benchmark. How wonderful the nation must have been back then, when compared to the horrors we see today, as parents are robbed of their children and their eyes look for them all day long, but they have no strength to take any action. Truly a bitter pill, but it’s exactly what we deserve, as we have turned our backs on God, and God keeps His word, even if we don’t keep our side of the bargain.
Consider also the millions of fathers here in the Fractured Kingdom (formerly known as the United Kingdom) who have been robbed of access to their children through state-supported divorces and the actions of their wives. And we could mention here the millions of abortions, where fathers are denied a son or a daughter by the prospective mother, always supported by the state and its medical facilities.
I’ll come back to this theme many times in the years ahead, as the horrors we are due to suffer are largely related to the curses we have brought upon our nation by turning our backs on God’s grace, love and commands. And to think, the bible contains the 10 commandments and only another 613 laws, and that’s it.
Compare that to the thousands upon thousands of pointless and unjust laws we now have to obey, many of which are not even drawn up within these lands, but come from some parliament far away in Europe. Can you see, people of Dumnonia, how much better your lives would be if you return to the blessings of loving and obeying your God. Rest assured, He’s still with us, watching our lives and casting His judgement, and implementing His curses. I don’t expect us to pass through the period of curses quickly, and in fact if we don’t turn back to God’s ways, we’ll be forever cursed.
But if some of us do turn back, just a handful even, in places such as Wales and Dumnonia, God will see this happening, and will look to protect and bless us, even as His righteous judgement is delivered on the whole nation. Out of the embers of a failed God-fearing nation can rise the first-fruits of new growth in faith and obedience, and the blessings that will accompany that growth.
So, don’t be surprised or angry at the treatment of families in England and Wales, it’s to be expected. Just as we aren’t surprised at how a tiny little nation in North West Europe came to have a mighty Empire that spread over the entire planet. And the Empire spread the word of God, and kept His laws, and so it was blessed. But our Empire has fallen, and now we are all slaves, and so we’ll remain, until we turn back.
I pray, Jehovah, fill the hearts of my neighbours with faith in your glory, your love, your truth and your righteous laws and commands. Allow many nearby to see the peril we face due to turning away from you, and allow them to see that turning back, to kneel before your power and glory in humble obedience is our only path back to lives that are truly blessed. Amen.
